Parents play a pivotal role in the lives of children. What children become can be a result of what they have learned from their parents.
Children are good imitators in everything because they practice what they see.
Deuteronomy 32 vs 4
He is the Rock, his work is perfect:
For all his ways are judgment:
A God of truth and without iniquity,
Just and right is HE.
Proverbs 22 vs 6.
Train up a child in the way he should go:
And when he is old, he will not depart from it.
WHAT MUST WE DO AS PARENTS?
1. Spend Time studying the Word of God.
Children need to know that the change in Times and that is biblical. Allow them to read the Bible and relate the situations with the Word of God
2.Pray with them at all times.
Make it a lifestyle and children won't forget what you have taught them.
One night when I was sleeping at midnight, my daughters were praying in their room and it challenged me that at the age of 10 years they were talking to God in prayer
3. Build their faith by ensuring them of God's presence in every situation.
I remember my daughter at the age of 6 asking me why God heals a sick person. When I explained to her about faith it became her lifestyle. Every time I got sick she will lay her hands on me in prayer.
4. Allow them to Pray on their own.
Tell them why they need to pray on their own because Prayer is communication to God. Each time we talk about family situations and challenges of the world, I personally tell them that we are going through difficult situations or someone is not feeling well and they know how to pray depending on the scenario presented to them.
Sometime last year we visited my in-law sister at her workplace and my daughter before we were asked to sit asked to do a prayer in her office.
5. Lay hands on them and assure them that God loves them and will protect them.
It is a good thing to learn to pray for your children as parents before you pray for others outside your home. It gives assurance to the children and helps them to believe in the power of God through laying hands.
Our children are going through difficult situations especially in this twenty-first century. The only way to build their faith is through teaching them the Word of God and having time with them at home. I believe that this is the right time when we are on lockdown that we should create that relationship with our children while we are home.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me
